"Great hidden gem near to the beach. I went there and it was quiet, not a lot of people. Service was fast and personalised and I have been able to as the waitress her suggestion about the menu. I ended with glass of Merlot, carpaccio as appetizer and Spaghettoni Amatriciana. I like the restaurant that have a small menu but know how to cook it. My choice was quite basic but I’ve wanted real Italian food, I made basic Italian choice. You won’t find any bacon or cream there. They are using guanciale and pecorino as it should be used and the results and great. The amatriciana sauce was so good I need to finish it with piece of bread, so tasty, really well done. There’s some garlic on the carpaccio that make the meat really tasty as well. Well Done there to. I’ve needed to find a place for dinner 2 days later and I hesitated to go there again but I choose to try another restaurant, Libanese style and it was a deception. I should have gone there again… I’ve tried 2 other fashion wanabe typical Italian restaurants on the 5th that was way more expensive than this one and they were not close from this one in terms of results in the plate. "Absolutely Amazing! Luma is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Playa del Carmen. The ambiance is cozy and elegant, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive. Every detail, from the flavors to the presentation, is flawless. You can feel the passion in every bite. If you’re looking for exceptional Italian cuisine, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be coming back!"

"The best place we ate at in Playa, so good we came back 3 times!! Try the Mezcalitas they are fantastic! We had the ahi, many seafood pastas, salads... The food is so flavorful and creative. The prices are very fair considering the quality and portions. You can't go wrong. I also updated the location of the restaurant on Google maps, it should be showing in the correct spot now (one block up from the ocean)."

"Some of the reviews made me question whether we should have went but I’m so glad I ignored them!!!! The flavour is AMAZING, I think some people just don’t appreciate how true Italian food allows you to fully taste the items on the plate. I had the calamarata pasta with all the seafood, it was so delicious. My partner had fried octopus, squid, and shrimp with this really awesome chipotle mayo. The cocktails were good, pretty but basic. Our server was great, very friendly and brought us a couple different things on the house which was really sweet (bread, caramelized mushrooms on toast, and a post meal digestion drink). It was a calm vibe, very close to the beach. If you’re looking for great seafood in PDC I highly recommend Luma!"

"The food was good and made from fresh ingredients. My husband’s pasta was overcooked though. The portions were so large that even appetizers could easily be shared between 2-3 people. This is definitely a plus for those who enjoy hearty meals or plan to share dishes with friends or family. The service was pretty good. I highly recommend booking a table in advance since the restaurant is quite popular. If the weather allows, opt for outdoor seating. 18% gratuity was included to the bill by default."

"Wonderful dinner! We had the raw seafood appetizer, the shrimp and mussel pasta, and the lamb. All three dishes were 5 stars, full of flavor, and served perfectly! Our waiter Miguel was so kind and thoughtful and brought my husband a complimentary dessert for his birthday. Special experience and next time we are in Playa we will be back!"

"A good Italian restaurant in a quiet place near the sea. Good service. High-quality food. Large portions. Fresh fish. Normal prices. I didn’t like that the 18% tips were included in the bill."

"Our best food in Playa Del Carmen, a beautiful time, food and service! Such a warm friendly atmosphere - the clams were to die for! Only the gnocchi could’ve had more capers, but that is but a small aspect of a delicious 3 course meal!"
